Welcome to 2nd Grade

Please join us for 2nd Grade Parent Orientation on Thursday, August 28, 6:00-7:00 pm in the school library.  We will be going over our yearly curriculum and expectations for the school year.  It is a great way to hear what your child will be learning in 2nd grade and to get any questions you have answered.  We hope to see you there!

2014-2015 School Supplies

The Wells Branch Elementary PTA is pleased to offer parents the opportunity to order classroom supplies for the 2014-15 school year.  Like last year, the PTA has partnered with SchoolKidz (a division of Staples) to give our members access to quality supplies at low prices.  And as always, the PTA has worked directly with WBE teachers to ensure your student’s supplies are exactly what they’ll need for the upcoming year.

When you order your school supplies through the PTA you:

Save money – the PTA negotiates significant savings based on our combined buying power.  In addition, we pass along an additional 7% discount directly to our parents.  This is not a fundraiser for the PTA.

Save time – Simply go online and choose the preapproved package for your student’s grade.  There’s no searching for supply lists, driving to the store, or hunting for 25-30 individual items. 

You can even add a new backpack, lunch bag, or water bottle to your order to give your student everything they need for the new school year.  All without leaving your home.

Save the aggravation – eliminate one item from your back-to-school list before summer even begins!  Avoid the hassle of crowded stores and ransacked shelves that occur every August.

Your student’s supplies will be waiting for them in their classroom, in a personalized box, on back-to-school night (August 21^st).  And everything will be the correct size, color, and quantity.

Orders are accepted online through June 13^th at www.shopttkits.com (use Acct # 92949).  You are welcome to use the computers in the Wells Branch Elementary PRO Center during regular school hours to place your order.  But don’t wait.  Before you know it, school will be over and the deadline will be here.

Field Trip

Second graders will be going on a field trip on Friday, April 25.  We will be going to see the movie Bears at the Tinseltown Theater.  This field trip is closed to parents.  You are more than welcome to meet us at the park for lunch after the movie.  Please look in your child's folder for the permission slip and for more information on the upcoming event!!

Spring Festival Reminder

Spring Fest is just around the corner on, Saturday, April 12th.  Our PTA team is frantically working away to make this our best and most fun Spring Festival ever. But first, we want to THANK everyone who donated to the class baskets. We got some great items! That said, there are still plenty of opportunities to help out! Can you pitch in on one or more of the following? We still need the following donated items (send with child/bring to office - needed asap!) - 282 more cans of silly string for the 5th grade booth - 50 more cans of temporary colored hair spray for 4th grade booth These booths currently cannot occur unless we receive more of these items. All proceeds benefit the school at large, so please consider donating even if your child is in another grade.  We will need donated cakes! - bring to office NO EARLIER than Friday, April 11thduring school hours or directly to the cake walk booth the day of, Saturday, until 4pm - homemade cakes okay, but icing must be store-bought - cakes must not require refrigeration We will need to borrow pop-up Tents/Canopies - please LABEL your canopy AND bag - drop-off by 10am the morning of Spring Fest in front of the school, or in the gym at drop-off on Friday. We still have 170 volunteer shifts to fill the day of Springfest!  - shifts available before, during and after - help us spread the word! - don't forget to comment with teacher name for the hours contest - sign-up here: http://vols.pt/yu1awF Thanks for stepping up!  All Spring Festival proceeds directly benefit Wells Branch Elementary!

PTA is asking for students to donate items and the deadline has been extended to Friday, March 28^th.

Our class will be creating an auction basket and helping host a “Ring the Pringle Can” booth at the Spring Festival.  We need your help to make it fun!
We are asking each second grade student to donate one item for the class auction basket if possible and one or more regular size cans of unopened Pringle’s potato chips (the tall can/any flavor) for the booth by

Monday, March 31^st.

The Spring Festival is on Saturday, April 12^th, from 2pm until 6pm.  Please sign up with PTA if you are able to volunteer to help at the carnival in any way.

Segundo grado creara una canasta para subastarla durante el Festival de primavera con y tendrá un puesto de juego "Ring the Pringle Can". Necesitamos su ayuda para hacerlo divertido.
Estamos pidiendo a cada estudiante de segundo grado una donación de  un artículo para la canasta de la subasta si es posible, y una o más latas de tamaño regular sin abrir de papas fritas Pringles (las latas altas/de cualquier sabor) para el puesto del juego a mas tardar para el día lunes, 31 de marzo.

El Festival de la Primavera es el sábado, 12 de abril, de las 2:00pm a las 6:00pm. Por favor, regístrese con PTA si usted puede ser voluntario para ayudar en el festival.

2nd grade classes will perform "Texas Songs" this Friday February 7th. There will be two performances: 8:15am and 1:15pm. Don't miss out.
