The Toiletree Drive

Wells Branch is participating in a special drive this year: The Toiletree Drive. During the week of November 29-December 3, we will be collecting toiletries for the Angelheart Children's Shelter.  At times, people struggle with being able to get normal day to day items that are needed in the household. Many canned food items go to local homeless shelters, but many times, bathroom items are in great need. We are now collecting new items that are regularly found in a bathroom to be donated to a local homeless shelter. Items that are most in need are toilet paper, soap, shampoo and conditioner, brushes, and toothpaste/toothbrushes. This is a great opportunity for Wells Branch children to be able to help other children in the Austin community.

The Second Grade Teachers would like to wish all of you and your families a wonderful holiday this Thanksgiving weekend! We look forward to seeing you back at school on Monday, November 30th.

Miss Nelson is Missing Field Trip

      

Dear 2^nd Grade Parents,

Just a friendly reminder that our field trip to McNeil PAC to see Miss Nelson is Missing is scheduled for Tuesday, November 16^th, 2010.   To make the field trip more pleasant, please send the following items in your child’s book bag:

• A water bottle
• A beach towel to sit on while they eat.
• Their completely disposable lunch (unless you ordered one from the cafeteria).

We will be leaving school at 9:30 a.m. Please make sure your child arrives at school on time.  The play begins at 10:00 a.m. and will last approximately an hour.  We will then retrieve our backpacks from the bus and eat lunch on the PAC grounds.  After lunch, we head back to school.

Paramount Theater Filed Trip!

We are so excited to go on our field trip Monday, November 8th to the Paramount Theater to watch Pigeon Party! featuring 'Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus' and othe Mo Willems favorites.

Red Ribbon Week

Next week is Red Ribbon Week. We will learn the importance of staying drug-free. The counselors have created themes for each day to support Red Ribbon Week.

Monday:
Wear boots or western wear - "Give drugs the boot!"
Tuesday:
Wear crazy socks - "WBE will sock it to drugs!"
Wednesday:
Wear red day - "Show off your drug-free spirit by wearing as much red as possible!"
Thursday:
Wear mismatched clothes - "Don't let drugs mix you up!"
Friday:
Wear hats or caps - "Hats off to a drug-free life!"

Coins for Coats

This week the library kicked of the Coins for Coats Drive. The money collected through this event will be used to provide coats for RRISD students who cannot afford a winter coat.

Every cent helps....even pennies!

There is a donation bucket located in the library. The Coins for Coats Drive will continue through the end of next week, 10/29.

Picture Day!

Picture Day is Wednesday, October 20th. If you are ordering fall pictures, please be sure to send in the order form with payment by Wednesday morning.
